6th Annual East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention

Glyph Comics Awards: Fri., May 18, TK time. $TK. African American Museum, Seventh and Arch sts.; Convention: Sat., May 19, 10am-7pm. $10 (free for kids 16 and under). Temple University, Anderson Hall, 1114 W. Berks Street. 215.204.1993.

No matter what culture you hail from, the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention is the most intimate and hands-on comic con around. This year’s ECBACC includes workshops taught by legends that live their dreams by writing, drawing and developing ideas for DC and Marvel Comics, Cartoon Network and Nick. For one day only you’ll have the superpower to share lunch and discuss comics with creators—some of whom have just sold their first book and some who’ve sold thousands. Workshops discuss everything from figure drawing to earning the cash needed to stay in business. And vendors will be hawking sketches and new and rare comics. The Glyph Comics Awards kick off the event on Friday at the African American Museum.
