Odom Bio

Yumy Odom, Founder of 1st World Komix, Inc. (AD 1986), has been a multidisciplinary educator, scientist, researcher and archivist for more than 25 years. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, he came to Philadelphia, PA in 1988. As an Independent Educational Strategist and a Temple University Administrator, he has facilitated / instructed 14 major courses, among them: CEP #160 Introduction to African Continental & African Diasporan Languages; CEP #180 Introduction to Global Mythology; CEP #268 Human Race Studies: A Certification Course; CEP #39-A Introduction to Etymology; CEP #300: PASCEP 101; CEP #355-A: Conversational Spanish 101; WS-57: The Black Age of Comics Legacy; BMDS WS-SP3: Rites-of-Passage / First Rites; and WS-SP3-A: Rites-of-Passage Intensive Training for Facilitators (Men).

He is also the Founder of 5 innovative community-based projects:

  1. Frator Heru Rites-of-Ascension (ROA): Models for Humanity;

  2. First World Komix, Inc: Creators of Human, Heroic & Mythic Images, which is responsible for establishing the East Coast Black Age of Comics Convention [ECBACC] in Philadelphia, PA in May 2002;

  3. The State Correctional Institution (SCI) Educational Institute Curriculum Project: Seminars in Knowledge & Praxis;

  4. The Kiswahili Society of Philadelphia; &

  5. The Human Race Studies Research Institute Think Tank.
